Custom Masonry by Featherlite shall:
- Comply with ASTM specifications:
- C-90 for hollow load-bearing concrete masonry units
- C-129 for non-load-bearing concrete masonry units
- Be made of aggregate conforming to ASTM C-33 or ASTM C-331.
- Be of the color and texture as submitted by the manufacturer and
approved by the architect.
- Include an integral water repellent agent as determined by the
manufacturer.
- Include coloring agents of natural or synthetic oxides that are pure,
inert and non-fading
Nature of Product
Custom masonry units are made from natural and manufactured aggregates, cement and
cement and color. Being derived from nature, they will vary in uniformity
of size, shape, texture and particle color. Care is taken in the manufacturing
process to use the finest materials available, but the occasion of
efflorescence should be anticipated in the final product.
Cleaning
Do not use high pressure spray. Use a detergent masonry cleaner
Sure Klean 600 or equivalent), mixed according to manufacturer's directions.
Clean as the job progresses, consistent with the best concrete masonry
practices.
Water Repellent
Featherlite custom block have an integral water repellent built in. We
recommend that the mortar also have an integral water repellent.
Additionally, custom block should have a one-coat application of
Prime-A-Pell 200, a clear, penetrating water repellent, correctly applied
to protect the completed wall assembly.
